I remembered they smelled like brand new leather and I couldn't wait to get them back on my feet. When I tried them on it was like my feet touched a cloud! I'd seen trainers advertised as such before but these got something right. I couldn't stop thinking about...

Shopping My Mind...

I was trying to write a cute "Journal Entry" about these cute "new shoes" but, I just kept getting stuck. I felt like my illustration needed something to pull together the thoughts/ feelings I felt while making it.

Joy/ Playing/ Slowing Down/ Intentionality/ Fit/ Falling Down/ Getting Up/ Celebrating

I was inspired but I was still stuck! Let me tell you that "stuckness" feeling stunk like old funky shoes. It was frustrating me. And like a demanding coach my inner voice kept screaming,

"LET'S GET TO WORK!"

"COME ON!"

"GO! GO! GO!"

"AGAIN!"

Annoyed I'd start the entry again.

That's when it came to me...

Writing is like buying and breaking in a new pair of shoes.

You're shopping around. Looking for the best fit and price. You find THE pair. You buy them. You're super excited. You can't wait to wear them. You're wearing them ALL the time. I mean you are reaaallllyyy wearing them! They start to get worn in. The soles are worn down. The insole is just the outer of your foot imprint and there is that huge stain that just won't come out. You're not sure, you feel like they could get "a couple more wears." But you know they're finished. So you thank them and begin the "buying and breaking in" again.

What I'm trying to say is..

Do the thing. Get inspired. Write about it. Be excited about the process, have fun with it. In the overwhelm of, "does this make sense?" keep going. Don't worry about how it sounds or if it's good enough? It is. Plus, the practice will build your skills for it. And when you feel resistance on if the piece is finished know it is. Thank it and let it be complete.
